Business Opportunities in 2009

Business Opportunities in 2009 | Business IdeasWhat is amazing about the depression that America is facing in 2009 is how many business opportunities still exist. I know of dozens of professionals who run small businesses that are growing almost too quickly for their own good. It seems that if you have carved out a unique niche, deliver genuine value to your clients and provide thought leadership marketing the growth of your business can't be hurt much by a large recession or depression.

Perhaps now, during a depression is the best time to evaluate your own and your competitors use of influence principles within your business practices. In high tide all boats stay afloat but during low tide perhaps the active employment of appropriate principles of influence could make the difference between breaking even or grabbing market share from your competitors.

Here are some depression-era influence tips:
  • Give away your best advice and knowledge within blog articles, newsletters and an e-book - ideally all created off of the same core content.
  • Only pitch your customer after the 7th touch - yet always be ready for those who are ready to buy.
  • Offer help and deliver value before asking for your potential customers to open their wallet.
  • Speak at events, conferences and within video posted to your own website once a week.
  • Create more personal bios for your website, a more professional website template and re-invest in your team earning designations or certifications which align their knowledge with your industry or typical customer.
  • Provide ample social proof related evidence of your firm's activities on your business cards, website and marketing materials.
